When you call Citimortgage make sure you document the time you call and get the agents ID number. If you have a device to record them make sure you do this too. My home was placed in forclosure and I was told by the lawyers that were hired by Citi If I’d not been so savy and knew how to document I’d lost my home. Now I’m doing the short sale and it’s a nightmare… , but of course I’ve already filled up a notebook of documents of the conversations to cover my asss.
I was contacted my CitiMortgage requesting a copy of my insurance policy. I faxed over the policy two different times. On 6/4/03 they forced an insurance policy on the account in the amount of $2,415.00 which created an escrow account. After several phone calls and several hours on the phone they finally canceled that policy and refunded the $2,415.00 back to the escrow account. But because an escrow account was setup in error, every payment I made is applied toward an escrow account that that should not exist. I am receiving phone calls from the collection department for payments that I made and they applied incorrectly.
So the one time the check clears the same day it did and I had insufficient funds. I called Citimortgage to alert them to the fact and they said not to worry, this was common and that they would deposit the check a 2nd time and I would not receive a thirty day late on my credit. So when 1/28 rolled around and the check still had not been re-deposited I got worried and phoned Citimortgage, I was again told not to worry the check had not been sent back by my bank yet and that once they receive it, it would be re-deposited.
I again contacted Citimortgage and finally on July 24th, 2003, they sent funds to the county to pay this tax and debited my escrow account. However Citimortgage did not send certified funds as requested in all correspondence I sent to them and on July 31st, 2003, all funds were sent back to Citimortgage. My escrow account still showing they had paid these taxes on my behalf. Contact was again made, via fax, and nothing done by Citimortgage.
I just had an extremely unpleasant experience last night trying to resolve a mistake that CitiMortgage made on my escrow account. My mortgage was previously with another company (which I didn’t have any problems with) until it was bought out by CitiMortgage last month. Since CitiMortgage took over I have had nothing but problems. They made a duplicate payment on my homeowners insurance, and now the premium amount is doubled in their system. As a result, a new escrow analysis was done (even though I already had one done under the old company 2 months ago) and now my monthly mortgage payment has been jacked up over $100/month.
